Weekly Weigh-in

This week I lost 2 1/4 lb (1 Kg) but my % body fat remained the same.

I suppose the 11 hours of exercise this week helped even though I was eating cakes and such like.

Hopefully this loss will continue but only done 4 hours of exercise this week so far, I felt a bit more tired this week and needed a few extra rest days to recover from the previous week.

Weekly Update

This week I did 11 hours of exercise!!!

Below is the percentage of time by area.

35 % Running
30 % Cross Training
20 % Cycling
10 % Walking
  5 % Swimming

The only concern was the lack of swimming time this week but have brought my cardio training back up again from pre Christmas.

Back at the Gym (again)

This week I went back to the gym for the first time in about 6 weeks and had a good 90 minute session which was about 3/4 cardio based workout.

I used my new mp3 player which clipped on and felt lighter than my headphones. It was good as I listen to a few podcasts and some chapters from an audio book. Alongside what I was listening to I could still here the music in the background that they were playing in the gym.

They also had some bikes on trial at the gym. They where a virtual reality MTB course with electronic gears with no chain, caged pedals and fully adjustable bike setup. I did a course for 3 laps about 12 minutes, which I won against the computer opponents (beginner level) but I was sweating a lot during this. I may even go back to the gym a bit more now.

Weekly Weigh-in

This week I have lost 2 lb (0.9 Kg) and strangely gained 0.5% body fat.

I have upped my training this week to at the moment 4 hours of exercise which was helped by the snow clearing up (apart from the day it snowed again!!).

Weekly Weigh-in

This week on the Snow diet (can't be bothered to go out in the snow to buy extra food) I have lost 1 1/4 lb (0.6 Kg) and my body fat has decreased by 3%.

I have been trying to cut down my food in take this week due to the lack of exercise apart run to and from work. Not sure if the shorter but more frequent runs helped out.

More Running in the Snow

Today I continued the running to and from work (2.6M / 4.2km) in the snow with a ruck sack on. It took me 34 minutes in the morning but I was stopping to take some photos along the way (see below) and only 27 minutes on the way back in the evening in the dark thanks to Lars, this is a new Snow PB.

The temperature was a barmy 0c (32F) with no noticeable wind so was not as cold as recently. However as people had started to move around more and grit and clear some entrances the snow had become more slushy in places and made it more slippery, so extra caution was used at any junctions and driveways.

Lars the Light Lego man. This was an ideal torch as I could fit in my hand while running and press the button and direct it while running. The route I picked had lots of street lights and plenty of cars so I did not need a torch in continuous use so this was ideal..

Run to and from work in the Snow

Today I ran to and from work in the snow and sub freezing temperatures. It was only 2.6 miles (4.2 km) but it was the first time I had run or done any exercise in the last two weeks. Each way took me about 32 minutes but on the way back I was stopping to take some photos (see below). It was also a good stability and strength exercise for my ankles due to the uneven surfaces and also my concentration, as I did not want to slip over.

I do not know if it was the lack of exercise or the conditions but my legs muscles felt fatigued more than normal but I was carrying a bit extra weight since my last run plus my ruck sack.

Due to the cold temperatures (-3c) and wind chill (-9c) I had a number of layers on below is what I had on, I was nice and warm.

5 tops (one was a waterproof and another was a reflective top)
3 pairs of socks (two knee length with one being referee socks)
2 pairs of full length leggings
2 buff scarfs
2 pairs of gloves
1 hat
1 pair of astroturf trainers (no breathable mesh on them)

There was even snow in Trinidad and Tobago, well this is as close that will happen.

New Year Weigh In

Over the last 3 weeks I have gained 5 1/2 lb (2.4 Kg) and 3% body fat!!

This has been due to combination of cold weather conditions and therefore lack of time to exercise outdoors plus over eating a bit over Christmas.

The more scarily thing is that I have gained 2 stone (12 Kg) of the 5 stone that I had previously lost, I think I will be training more this year now.
